2022 Valedictory Service!
The Philomaths
On the 1st of August 2022, we celebrated our annual valedictory service, bidding farewell to the graduating students from the primary school, college, and A-levels. The event was a momentous occasion, filled with mixed emotions of joy, sadness, and excitement as the students looked forward to their future endeavors.
The Venue of the event was Daylan Event Centre, Along Sango/Eleyele road, Ibadan Oyo State.
The event was well attended by parents, guardians, friends, and well-wishers who came to celebrate the graduating students. The atmosphere was electric, with students dressed in their academic gowns, reflecting on their journey through the school and the various milestones they had achieved.
The event was kicked off by the school’s principal, who delivered a heartfelt speech, congratulating the graduating students for their hard work, dedication, and perseverance. She encouraged them to continue striving for excellence, as they move on to the next phase of their lives, and reminded them of the importance of using their education to make a positive impact in society.
The valedictorian speeches were another highlight of the event, as students took turns to share their experiences and express their gratitude to the school, their teachers, and parents. They also talked about their dreams and aspirations for the future, leaving the audience in awe of their ambitions and determination.
The event was also an opportunity to recognize outstanding students who had excelled in various academic and non-academic activities. Awards were given for academic excellence, leadership, sportsmanship, and community service, to mention a few. The awards were a testament to the school’s commitment to holistic education, aimed at developing well-rounded individuals who can thrive in any field.
In conclusion, the valedictory service was a fitting send-off for the graduating students of St Catherine’s Schools. It was a momentous occasion that will be etched in their memories for years to come. The school has undoubtedly played a vital role in shaping the lives of these students, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to excel in life. As they move on to the next phase of their lives, we wish them all the best and hope that they continue to make us proud.
The Valedictorian Speech

The Chairman of this I occasion, the Proprietress, the Director, the Board of Governors, P.T.A. executives, Principal, Vice-principals, Parents, Members of Staff, Distinguished Guests, Fellow Graduands and students. It is with great pleasure that I stand before you all today to give this speech as the Valedictorian of this College on behalf of the graduating class of 2022 on the occasion of her 15th Valedictory service
My sincere gratitude goes to God Almighty who, in his loving kindness, has spared our lives to witness this important occasion which marks an important event in the history of this great citadel of learning, the graduands and the students
I will start by saying congratulations to everyone graduating today. These last 6 years have been very demanding for us all, and being here today is an attestation to our resilience and an indication that we have a bright future ahead of us, having been well groomed and refined in the enviable, strong and tested values of integrity, hard work, resilience and discipline, which is St. Catherine’s and the constant effort to make us achieve all round excellence.
I will also like to acknowledge the Proprietor/Proprietress the Management, Teachers and staff of our great school for their efforts in training us to become the ladies and gentlemen we are today.
We are most grateful to all our parents for their unwavering support, attention and care. We appreciate each and every one of you exceedingly. The graduating class of The Philomaths 2022, beyond any reasonable doubt, is a set that will go into the world and make positive changes in the world due to the knowledge and skills that have been imparted to us by this great college. To my fellow classmate, I want to say
congratulations for the successful completion of our secondary school education and most importantly, for the opportunity to have attended and benefitted from the excellent human and material resources offered at St Catherine’s College which has prepared us to launch out into the wider world to make our marks and achieve our life’s goals and to contribute to building a better world for all mankind. I also want us to always remember to live by these words: “Before anything else, preparation is the key to success”. As we have left St. Catherine’s College. Let
us not forget why we came. We will like to express our gratitude to the people whose vision has made today possible. I am talking about Hon. Dr. B.A Taiwo and Prof Mrs. J.O Taiwo for their foresight in establishing and nurturing this school from infancy to the great school it has become today. We pray that the good Lord will reward your good works especially for contributing your quota towards nation building by cultivating excellent young men and women into the society. We are immensely grateful to be among your products. We shall continue in the right path that you have laid for us.
A big thank you to all the St Catherine’s family who has made our stay here worthwhile and memorable. I pray that the Lord will continue to bless you all.
Let me end with this quote from former law professor and attorney, Michael Josephson, which want the graduands to hold on to: “Take pride in how far you’ve come. Have faith in how far you can go but don’t forget to enjoy the journey.
